Description de l’offre
About Generare At Generare, we’re reopening one of humanity’s most powerful sources of innovation: the natural evolved chemistry of microbes. We’ve built a discovery engine that blends synthetic biology, computational biology, and automation to explore the vast 97% of microbial natural products that remain undiscovered, and to turn that hidden diversity into a rapidly growing library of truly novel bioactive molecules.
The platform is already running at industrial scale, revealing new scaffolds and modes of action faster than any other approach, and unlocking fresh routes to tackle antimicrobial resistance, cancer, parasitic diseases, and major agricultural needs. Generare was created in 2023 from the landmark work of Dr. Vincent Libis and is scaling fast. We’re 30 brilliant people in the heart of Paris today, growing rapidly next year, and building the team that will bring nature’s molecular library to the next wave of medicines and sustainable crop protection.
Role Overview
We are looking for an intern to join our R&D team to help us understand the mechanisms driving the sporulation of our bacterial strains and identify the specific conditions under which they get triggered. This will involve experimental work to test hypotheses about the pathways and environmental factors involved. Beyond this fundamental research, your work will have a direct, applied dimension : your findings will feed into our production pipeline, helping us better control and ultimately leverage these mechanisms to our advantage.
You will work in close collaboration with the R&D team throughout the project to ensure your results translate into practical improvements Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a literature review of the topic and maintain ongoing monitoring of the field throughout the project. - Conduct microbiological testing of your hypotheses
- Write up summaries and present results to the team
- Documentation & traceability
- Record protocols and experimental results in lab software with a high degree of rigor.
- Contribute to lab maintenance
- Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the lab, maintain laboratory equipment.
Requirements
Education : 5th-year engineering school student or M2 ongoing in microbiology or biotechnology.
- Experience : Prior internship or work experience in microbiology, in a research laboratory setting, would be a plus. - Languages : Proficient in French, comfortable reading and writing in English.
- Hard skills : Solid foundation in microbiology, including strain culture and standard laboratory techniques. Good command of molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA extraction…) and familiarity with bioinformatics and genomic analysis would be a plus.
- Soft skills : Mindset : Highly motivated, curious, proactive, comfortable working independently, able to take a step back and question own results. Organization : Very structured, reliable, and detail-oriented, with strong follow-up and reporting habits. Communication : Clear and concise communicator, comfortable documenting processes in both French and English. Adaptability : Comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment with evolving priorities.
Why join us
This internship is a chance to work on a subject directly impacting everyday work in the lab. You'll gain hands-on experience in a biotech startup, building both practical and theoretical knowledge in microbiology. You'll get to follow and lead your project from start to finish, and above all, see the direct impact of your work on the processes running in the lab. Depending on how your project evolves and the R&D topics being explored at the time of the internship, your work may expand to include other R&D missions.
