Location: Paris, flexible remote policy Type: Full-time, french contract Availability: September About the role You’ll be Outline’s first hire in engineering. This is a hands-on, builder-first seat. As a founding engineer, you will be a technical north star. You will bring crucial individual contributions to the table in all key engineering areas, e.g.: The agentic core: orchestration, harness design, tool use, and the sandboxing that lets agents run safely on real financial data.
The trust layer that sets us apart: consistency checks, ground-truth reconciliation, unit tests for business logic, back-testing, etc. Autonomous onboarding: getting a CFO from messy spreadsheets to a working setup in Outline with no/minimal human in the loop. The product and infra around all of it: you go end to end. As the team grows, so will your scope: hiring, building our AI-assisted development cycle, shaping team rituals.
What we're looking for
Strong software engineering fundamentals and end-to-end ownership You already build with AI agents daily and have opinions about how to do it well. Exceptionally clear writing. It's how we think, decide, and stay transparent. Product instinct: you care who the user is and what actually moves them. Comfort with ambiguity and speed. No one will tell you what to do. You'll tell us. Bonus: early-stage experience. We work in English; French is a plus.
