Working in the Business Support area of Nationwide’s arrears management function, Collections & Recoveries, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to progress their career within the Secured Strategy team on a 12 month secondment. The role will focus on enhancing the team’s insight into the delinquent portfolios for all products that support the department’s vision to “Deliver best in class Collections and Recoveries performance through great customer service, via inspired people in a flexible and cost-efficient manner with the agility to adapt to changing business needs”.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Manager of the Secured Strategy team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of effective portfolio management strategies, while driving continuous improvements across processes and tools. You’ll undertake analysis to understand performance trends and evaluate the impact of strategic changes, ensuring recommendations are data ‑ driven and robust.

The role includes leading process reviews to maximise operational effectiveness and maintain regulatory compliance, as well as working closely with C&R Systems teams to enhance how the core collections platform supports contact strategies across debt cycles. You will also manage the team mailbox to ensure timely and accurate responses, support the development and maintenance of member communications, and help ensure member needs remain central to all new processes and strategies.

About you

The minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Have experience within a Collections and Recoveries environment
  • A proven track record of working with data, showing a logical approach to problem solving in relation to both business and technical issues
  • Ability to work at pace to a consistent high standard
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills with the ability to keep the complex simple
  • Excellent skills in Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Have a detailed knowledge of working with the secured retail products
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with others
