La position The Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) team, part of Sensor & Cartridge (S&C)Operations, is dedicated to supporting the manufacturing and quality control of Roche Blood Gas and Electrolyte (BG&E) Sensors and Reagents. These systems are a critical part of first-frontier diagnostics, delivering fast, reliable results in patient-critical settings like the intensive care unit, emergency room, and operating room. We are a dynamic and interdisciplinary team committed to operational excellence and digital transformation.

To advance our paperless manufacturing vision, this position combines routine product care with the migration of production records into our modern RAW2 system. We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team in Rotkreuz, Switzerland. In this role you will bridge the gap between process engineering and digital transformation, balancing routine product care with a high-impact strategic project: shifting our manufacturing documentation from legacy paper/Excel environments into our modern electronic RAW2 system.

The Opportunity As an MSAT intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the medical device industry by contributing to critical process management tasks while actively shaping our digital landscape. Your work will directly impact our ability to produce life-saving diagnostic systems. Routine Product Care & Process Management You will also be fully integrated into our daily Squad activities to understand the fundamentals of manufacturing engineering: Product Care Activities: Handling non-conformity notifications, leading investigations, and performing root cause analyses.

Operational Execution: Coordinating corrective actions in the manufacturing process, implementing process changes, and supporting production operators as an SME. Data & Performance Monitoring: Monitoring production data and analyzing key production performance indicators to drive continuous improvement. Compliance & Collaboration: Working according to internal processes defined by a GxP-regulated environment and collaborating closely with internal and external partners.

Strategic Project: Digitalization & RAW2 Transfer Alongside your daily operational tasks, you will take a key role in a major strategic digitalization project—transitioning our production records into the future: Electronic Batch Records: Supporting key initiatives for electronic batch records by transferring manufacturing and QC protocols from legacy paper and Excel formats into the advanced RAW2 electronic system.

Change & Data Management: Assisting with the data transfer and managing the necessary GxP change processes, including ensuring correct documentation and creating testing checklists. Process Optimization (Lean Management): Evaluating workflows to eliminate non-essential steps, optimizing the RAW2 transfer process to be as lean and efficient as possible while maintaining full regulatory compliance. Knowledge Management: Ensuring project knowledge and newly designed workflows are well-documented in Wiki articles for easy access and long-term retention.

Who You Are You are a current Bachelor or Master student (or graduated within the last 12 months) in life sciences, chemistry, process engineering, biotechnology, applied informatics, or a related field. You are enthusiastic about new technologies and eager to experience a real-world manufacturing environment. Additionally:

  • Excellent collaboration skills to coordinate tasks with both internal and external partners.
  • A strong affinity for digital workflows and a passion for restructuring/streamlining processes.
  • A strategic mindset, a strong sense of timeline ownership, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • An eye for detail and an appreciation for precise documentation in alignment with GDP/GMP guidelines.
  • An interest in working within a highly regulated medical sector and navigating structured operational environments.
  • Proficiency in both English and German. Start: as soon as possible. If you are ready to make a significant impact and gain valuable experience in the medical diagnostics field, please submit your application (CV and cover letter). We look forward to hearing from you!
