Job Title: Health Claims Assessor. Salary: £44,901pa - £54,879pa plus the benefits listed below. Location: Edinburgh. Hours: Full-time. Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

- About this opportunity Do you have experience assessing complex health insurance claims and want to make a meaningful difference to customers during important moments in their lives? We're looking for a Health Claims Assessor to join our Claims Team within Wealth & Insurance. This team plays a critical role in supporting customers through the claims journey with empathy, fairness and expertise. You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive environment where continuous improvement, professional development and customer outcomes are at the heart of everything we do. Every claim represents a significant life event for our customers, making the quality of your decisions and customer interactions essential to delivering the right outcomes. As a Health Claims Assessor, you'll: - Assess health insurance claims accurately and fairly in line with policy terms, authority limits and regulatory requirements. - Manage a portfolio of claims, making informed decisions using medical and policy information while meeting service standards and timescales. - Support customers throughout the claims journey, providing clear communication, empathy and guidance across telephone and other channels. - Maintain high standards of quality, risk management and compliance across all claim assessments. - Mentor and support the development of less experienced colleagues by sharing technical expertise and best practice. - Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer outcomes and team performance. What you’ll need - Experience assessing health insurance claims across a range of products within a health claims environment. - Strong knowledge of Critical Illness and Terminal Illness claims assessment. - Ability to review complex information, apply sound judgement and make balanced claim decisions. - Experience managing a case portfolio while meeting quality, accuracy and service standards. - Excellent customer communication skills, with the ability to explain decisions clearly and manage expectations throughout the claims process. And any experience of these would be really useful - Experience assessing Income Protection claims. - Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting the development of colleagues. - Ability to work across multiple claim types and broaden technical capability quickly.
