The D. E. Shaw group seeks a proactive, detail-oriented legal analyst and Contract Negotiator to join its Legal & Compliance team. This individual will collaborate closely with attorneys, supporting a variety of investment transactions and related matters.
The role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous, and collaborative environment. - Assist with the execution of investment transactions with a focus on reviewing, negotiating, and maintaining various contractual agreements, including confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements and engagement letters. - Work directly with Legal & Compliance and front office teams in London and collaborate with colleagues in the U.S. and Asia to support a broad range of deal-related activities. - Support project-based work relating to the firm's investment process infrastructure and
periodically assist with regulatory and compliance matters that arise in connection with the D. E. Shaw group’s activities in Europe.
A bachelor's degree, along with a demonstrated record of professional and/or academic achievement. Two to four years of work experience and an interest in learning about complex investment transactions and the attendant legal and commercial risks. Excellent organizational and analytical abilities; proven editing, proofreading, and project management skills; and keen attention to detail. Experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or in contract review at a law firm is preferred; formal legal experience is not required.
