Financial Lines Underwriting Manager, London or Redhill, UK Aon Underwriting Managers is recruiting a Financial Lines Underwriting Manager to lead the profitable growth and strategic development of our UK and European SME and mid-market Financial Lines portfolio. The successful candidate will combine underwriting excellence, commercial acumen and market engagement to expand distribution, strengthen key trading relationships and deliver sustainable portfolio growth.

What the day will look like Underwriting new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments in accordance with delegated underwriting authority, ensuring analysis, rating, processing and policy preparation are accurate and compliant. Identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Lead new business generation initiatives across Financial Lines products.
- Work with carrier partners to develop and launch new propositions. Champion Financial Lines propositions, driving broker adoption, product penetration and profitable growth.
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with carriers and brokers.
- Manage and support a small team of underwriters.
- Support the Underwriting Manager in delivering the business plan and budget. Act as a referral point and support the training and development of less experienced colleagues as required.
- Prepare terms for referral to facility insurers where risks fall outside individual underwriting authority.
- Ensure agreed service standards are consistently achieved.
- Work effectively with Business
- Support, Claims and Accounts teams where required.
- Provide a high standard of service to Aon coverholders on delegated authority facilities.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the development of the company’s business. Skills and experience
that will lead to success Ideally educated to A Level standard or above. Minimum Cert CII qualification. Experience underwriting risks within an insurance company or MGA. Strong technical knowledge of financial lines markets. Experience using Acturis would be advantageous. Track record of generating profitable new business. Strong broker development and relationship management skills. Commercially astute with the ability to identify growth opportunities. Confident in presenting to brokers, insurers and senior stakeholders. People management experience and/or experience leading a product.
Ability to work proactively without direct supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong literacy and numeracy skills. Ability to achieve enquiry targets. Enthusiasm to learn and develop within the role. Accurate and timely completion of work.
