Who we are
What we are building Why it matters Back to main page: Join Topograph What the job is We are hiring for a Software Engineer (F/M/X). You will report to Hugo (Founder & CTO) and work daily with all members of the team. What your mission will be Your initial focus will be on expanding the geographical coverage of Topograph’s product. This is literally our core business and a strong differentiator. The Ops team is in charge of country discovery and relationships with the trade registers worldwide. They will provide you with info on sources to use and local specifics.
You will collaborate during and after implementation, and share knowledge both ways. You will implement new sources into the Topograph platform according to our standards. This might require using a public API, a hidden API, automated browsing (”scraping”), or several of the above depending on the situation. This involves back-end engineering, some data work, testing, and use of our internal AI tools. You will be in charge of each source end-to-end (testing, QA, monitoring, etc).
How you will contribute to Topograph as a Software Engineer Design, develop, maintain and optimise efficient software that directly serve Topograph’s company goals. Help define and enforce technical choices, development practices and quality standards. Be on the lookout for ways to improve our tech stack, our product, our ways of working. Help serve clients at the highest standard.
Who we are
looking for (this is indicative; no need to tick all the boxes to apply) Back-end software engineering experience Our stack: Typescript, Nest.js, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Azure A clear interest in understanding the business/product side of things: You will not be receiving specs We need you to proactively engage with the Ops team when implementing new sources Later on you should support the Customer team if needed English proficiency. The French language is a clear bonus but not a dealbreaker.
Approximately 3 years of experience Less experience can work too if alignment to the role is high More is also fine, we’ll adapt compensation upwards Nice-to-haves: Experience with proxies and scraping (e.g., Puppeteer, Selenium) Experience working with LLMs Experience in a startup or other fast-paced environment This position might be a good fit if you had a career change into software engineering because (1) it covers a good range of software topics, and (2) we are open to diverse profiles and will provide necessary support accordingly.
How you will learn Hugo (CTO) has broad technical experience and a very practical approach to software engineering. You will also receive support from experienced engineers. For instance, Melvil is focused on infra, security, monitoring; Ladislas has expertise on AI products, LLMs, agents, & front-end engineering. You’ll have plenty of space to experiment autonomously. We think doing is the best way to learn. We are a very young company, so we will grow and change.
Your role
will evolve if you want it to. Why you should join Topograph Useful product. Company data and documents are indispensable to financial integrity. They are inherently public information, but that does not mean they are easy to access (far from it). We solve a strong pain point in the compliance/risk value chain. Big opportunity. Any financial institution worldwide needs a solution like ours, and the pain point exists in other adjacent regulated sectors. There has been no winner in this market so far. Speed and commitment.
We have integrated 150+ sources in 100 countries into our platform using modern AI/LLM solutions. We already work with 20 fintech / regtech clients in Europe, the UK, the US, and Australia. Impact. We are in the early days! We have the financial resources to grow and build; now is the time to make it happen. You'll be one of the first ten employees to join the venture. Strong team. We are ambitious, experienced operators. We have already worked together to create and sell software/data solutions.
We also have strong People (HR) experience—we know setting up and maintaining the right work environment is a key factor to success. What the work setup is French permanent employment contract (CDI). 0.3% of the company’s capital in the form of BSPCE (French share subscription warrants). 7 weeks of paid time off per year. Our private office is in the center of Paris (Sentier). It's nice and bright. We are in the early startup phase, so we expect work to happen mostly in person. As a ballpark figure, remote work for 1+ day a week, + 3 full weeks of remote per year.
We can help you relocate to Paris if relevant. Your choice of work equipment (Mac or PC; any office supply or furniture). We cover 100% health insurance for you, your significant other, and your children. €11 daily lunch ticket, coverage of public transportation pass and bike costs. We have good coffee.

What we are building Topograph facilitates business identity verification globally to support compliance with anti-money laundering requirements (in finance speak: KYB for AML-CFT). Using Topograph, a regulated entity speeds up customer onboarding & monitoring with minimal friction and prevents document fraud.
We’re building the technical infrastructure to consolidate and enrich fragmented company data from hundreds of public sources worldwide into instantly accessible intelligence : We establish direct connections to official registers around the world: think Companies House , INPI , Handelregister We extract company documents & data from these sources in real time We make the information available in a standardized format through an API and web app On our roadmap: scale the geographical coverage beyond the current 100 countries, and develop our AI-based data enrichment features, to become the best source for company identification.
Our mission
is to deliver authoritative, real-time, and contextualized company info, so financial institutions can make compliance & risk decisions confidently Why it matters Almost all countries in the world are combating financial crime for the threat it poses to society. Widespread anti-money laundering regulations (AML) are implemented worldwide, particularly concerning banks and other financial institutions. One pillar of AML is knowing precisely who you are doing business with. This is called KYC, Know Your Customer, or KYB when your customer is a business.
The first step of KYB is the most time-consuming: Get data identifying the company you are dealing with: address, registration number, activity sector… and most importantly who manages the company and who owns it. Then, collect the official documents that validate the data: articles of association, trade register extract, extract from the ultimate beneficial owners register, etc. All this must be done before establishing a commercial relationship.
Typically, a bank would ask the client for the data & documents, or internal compliance officers would try to collect them from various public or private sources. This is tedious for both clients and compliance teams; it can take weeks to complete; documents can be outdated, poorly scanned, or just wrong. Also the bank is supposed to maintain the knowledge and risk assessment up-to-date, so it’s not even a one-off effort. Topograph’s initial goal is to solve friction for KYB data and documents collection.
Beyond this, our solution is agnostic and can be used for different use cases such as risk management, supplier assessment, due diligence... and others to come. Social good By making reliable company identification quick and easy, Topograph helps financial institutions block illicit flows of money and keep the global economy fairer for everyone. Corporate transparency doesn’t just tick a compliance box: it protects citizens, strengthens public finances, and levels the playing field for honest businesses.
